Auto Backups - Android
mSecure automatically creates a backup of your data after every five changes. These backups are stored in your device's internal storage at Internal Storage/mSecure/backups (or mSecure 5 if you previously used mSecure 5). Restoring from a backup file will overwrite any existing data with the information in the backup.
Uninstalling the app will not delete auto-backups. However, backups will be lost if the mSecure folder is manually deleted or if you perform a factory reset on your device.
Viewing Auto-Backups
To access auto-backups, you may need to download a file manager from Google Play, though many devices include one by default.
- Open your file manager.
- Navigate to Internal Storage.
- Open the mSecure folder.
- Tap backups to view stored files.
Restoring from an Auto-Backup
- Open and unlock mSecure.
- Tap the menu icon.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Restore.
- Select the backup file you want to restore.
- Enter the password used when the backup was created.
mSecure will automatically open the backups folder, but you can navigate to other locations within your device's storage using the back arrow in the top left. All backup files are encrypted with the account password at the time of creation, so you must enter the correct password to restore your data.
