Backup and Restore - Android

Learn everything you need to know about mSecure backups, like how to create and restore from them and where they are located.

Your mSecure account is kept in sync automatically

Everything in your mSecure account is automatically kept in sync with all changes if the mSecure Cloud is enabled. This makes it easy to access your data from anywhere, and you don’t have to worry if you lose your devices. Simply sign in on a new device

mSecure creates automatic backup files. However, you can also create manual backups and restore from those backup files whenever needed.

Create a backup

  1. Open and log in to mSecure
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Backup
  5. Tap Yes

The backup file will be saved in a backups folder in the mSecure folder on your device’s internal storage (internal storage > mSecure > backups).

NOTE: If you migrated directly from mSecure 5, your folder may be called "mSecure 5"

Restore a backup

mSecure will only look at your device’s internal storage. You will need to make sure that the backup file is stored in your device’s internal storage.

  1. Open and log in to mSecure
  2. Tap the menu icon
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Restore
  5. Navigate to the location of your backup file (only internal storage is available) and restore

Restoring from a backup file will override any information in your mSecure account, and sync the changes to all signed-in devices if you have the mSecure Cloud enabled.

NOTE: If you used mSecure 4 on your device, you should have an mSecure folder. Tap the mSecure folder to view all the automatically created backup files or select the msecure4-migration.msim file. The msecure4-migration.msim contains the most up-to-date changes made in mSecure 4. mSecure backups are created in a backups folder in the "mSecure" folder of your device’s internal storage
