Backup and Restore - iOS

Learn how to create and restore backups in mSecure and where they are stored.

Automatic Syncing & Backups

If mSecure Cloud is enabled, your account automatically syncs across all your devices. This ensures your data is always up to date and accessible, even if you lose a device - simply sign in on a new one.

Additionally, mSecure creates automatic backup files. However, you can also manually create email backups and restore them when needed.

Creating an Email Backup

  1. Open and log in to mSecure.
  2. Tap the menu icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Email Backup.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Once in the Mail app, enter an email address you can access.
  7. Tap Send to email the backup attachment to yourself.

Restoring From an Email Backup

  1. Open the Mail app on your iOS device and find the email containing your backup file.
  2. Tap the attachment, then select mSecure from the list of apps. If you don't see mSecure, tap the More icon and select it from the full list.
  3. After mSecure opens, unlock the app using Touch ID or your password.
  4. When prompted, tap the red Restore button.
  5. Enter the backup's password, then tap Restore.

Important: Restoring a backup file overwrites all existing data in your mSecure account. If mSecure Cloud is enabled, these changes will sync to all signed-in devices.
