Understanding Templates

Templates in mSecure help you keep your information organized by categorizing different record types. Each record is based on a specific template, making it easy to access and manage your data.


Preset Templates in mSecure

mSecure provides a variety of built-in templates for commonly stored information, including:

  • Login
  • Credit Card
  • Secure Note
  • Bank Account
  • Driver's License
  • Passport
  • Social Security
  • Software License 
  • Vehicle Info
  • and more! 

How to Add a New Record in mSecure

You can add a new record using the following steps:

On iOS & Android

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Tap the blue plus (+) button in the bottom right corner.
  3. Choose a template from the pop-up menu.
  4. Enter your record information.
  5. Tap the checkmark icon to save. 

On Mac

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Click the blue plus (+) button at the bottom.
  3. Choose a template from the flyout list.
  4. Enter your record information.
  5. Click the checkmark icon to save.

On PC

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Click the "+ Add Item" row at the top of the left column.
  3. Choose a template from the pop-up menu.
  4. Enter your record information.
  5. Click the checkmark icon to save.

Creating a Custom Template in mSecure

If the standard templates don't fit your needs, you can create a custom template. This feature is available with an mSecure subscription.

On iOS

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal menu) in the top left.
  3. Tap Settings > Edit Templates.
  4. Tap the plus icon (+) in the upper right. 
  5. Name your template. 
  6. Add the necessary fields.
  7. Tap Save. 

On Android

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left.
  3. Tap Settings > Edit Templates.
  4. Tap the plus icon (+) in the bottom right.
  5. Name your template.
  6. Add necessary fields.
  7. Tap the checkmark icon to save.

On Mac

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Click mSecure in the top menu > Preferences.
  3. Navigate to Templates.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Name your template.
  6. Add necessary fields.
  7. Click OK to save.

On PC

  1. Open mSecure.
  2. Click the Settings (gear) icon.
  3. Click Templates in the left menu.
  4. Click the (+) button.
  5. Name your template. 
  6. Add necessary fields.
  7. Click the green checkmark icon to save. 

Using Custom Templates

To use your custom template:

  1. Go to All records (tap/click "All Records" at the top).
  2. Tap/click the plus icon (+) to add a new record.
  3. Select your custom template.

Editing Existing Templates

You can edit any of your templates at any time:

  1. Navigate to Templates in your mSecure settings.
  2. Select the template you want to modify.
  3. Tap/click Edit.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Tap/click Save.

This allows you to update and refine templates as needed.
