Getting Started with mSecure for Android

If you’re new to mSecure, this guide will help you navigate the Android app to manage your passwords, credit cards, secure notes, and more.


Launching mSecure

Once installed from the Google Play Store, the mSecure icon will be automatically added to an available spot on your home screen. Tap the icon to open the app. 


Android 8 and Above

You can tap and hold the mSecure icon to quickly create a Login, Credit Card, or Secure Note record. 


Creating Quick Shortcuts

To create a home screen shortcut for adding new records:

  1. Tap and hold the mSecure icon.
  2. Drag the New Note, New Card, or New Login option to your home screen for quick access.


Viewing Your Records

When you open mSecure, you’ll see a list of your added records.


Managing Your Records

Tap a record to view its details. 


Quick Scroll

Scroll down to see a quick scroll on the right side. Tap and hold it to navigate quickly through your records. 


Access Additional Options

Tap and hold a record in the main view to access extra options.


Creating a New Record

  1. Tap the + icon in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select the type of record (e.g., Login, Credit Card, Note). 
  3. Enter the details and tap the checkmark to save.


Editing a Record

  1. Select the record you want to edit.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Make your changes and tap the checkmark to save.


Additional Options When Editing

  • Add a New Field: Tap the + icon while editing a record, then select Add Field. Enter a label and choose a field type.
  • Attach a PDF or Photo: Tap the + icon, then select Add PDF or Add Photo, and choose your attachment. 
  • Add Text: Tap the + icon, then select Add Text to include additional text in your record.
  • Attach a File: While editing a record, tap Add File to attach a document.
  • Customize Record Types: Modify record templates by adding fields under Settings > Edit Types.


Quick Search & Categories

Switch Between Categories: Use the tabs at the top to navigate between All Items, Recents, Logins, Credit Cards, and Secure Notes. Tap one of the 5 icons to view the corresponding records.


Favorites

Mark records as favorites for quick access by selecting the star icon in the top-right corner. 


Search

Tap the magnifying glass in the top-right corner to open the search bar, then start typing to instantly find records.


Sort Records

Tap the icon in between the search icon and the star icon, in the top-right corner to sort items by Name, Date, Template or Tags.


Navigation Drawer

Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner to access various features.


Locking mSecure

To manually lock mSecure, open the navigation drawer and tap the lock icon.


Security Center

The Security Center helps you monitor your passwords by identifying weak, duplicate, or outdated login credentials. You can update your passwords directly from this section to keep your accounts secure. 


Built-in Browser & Login Assist

  • Use mSecure's built-in browser for auto-login, auto-submit, and auto-capture. 
  • Alternatively, use Login Assist with other browsers to quickly copy/paste login credentials. 


Settings

Access Account Settings at the bottom of the navigation drawer. 


Account (Settings)

  • Account Settings: View or update your Username, Email, Account Type, and QR Code.
  • Change Password: Update your account password.
  • Two-Factor Authentication: Manage your Two-Factor Authentication settings.

 Security (Settings)

Customize security preferences:

  • Biometric authentication: Enable or disable fingerprint or facial recognition for unlocking mSecure.
  • Auto-Lock: By default, mSecure locks immediately after you leave the app. Adjust this setting here.
  • Self-Destruct: Automatically remove all mSecure data from your device after multiple failed login attempts. Your data remains accessible on other devices.
  • Hide Sensitive Data: Choose whether sensitive information (e.g., passwords, credit card numbers) is visible by default.
  • Allow Screenshots: Enable or disable the ability to take screenshots within mSecure.
  • Notification Bar: Toggle the quick-access icon in the notification bar.

Data (Settings)

  • Edit Templates: Customize record templates in mSecure.

Sync, Backup, and Restore (Settings)

  • Sync settings: Manage synchronization options (mSecure Cloud, Dropbox, Wi-Fi, or disabling syncing).
  • Set Backup Folder: Choose where backups are stored on your device.
  • Backup: Manually create a backup of your data. 
  • Restore Backups: Restore data from .msim (old format) or .msib backup files.

Auto-Login

Browser:

  • Login-Assist: mSecure's built-in browser can autofill login records. You can also use your default browser with a pop-up to copy and paste login details.
  • Auto-Submit: Enable automatic submission of login credentials when using mSecure's built-in browser.
  • Clear Browser Data: Delete cookies and other stored data from mSecure's built-in browser.
  • Home Page: Set a default homepage for mSecure's built-in browser.

Autofill: 

  • Enable autofill for apps and websites in Google Chrome.

General (Settings)

  • Appearance: Choose between system settings, light mode, or dark mode.
  • Get Help: Access the support site or enable logging to track app issues.
