Transfer Information from mSecure 3 to mSecure 7

This guide shows you how to back up your data from mSecure 3 on Mac or Windows and restore it in mSecure 7. 

If you're installing mSecure 7 for the first time on a device that previously had mSecure 3, the app will attempt to guide you through migration automatically. If that migration was skipped or didn't occur, you can manually create a backup from mSecure 3 and restore it in mSecure 7 using the steps below. 

Mac

To transfer your data to mSecure 7, follow these steps: 

1. Open mSecure 3.5 on your Mac and enter your password to unlock the app. 
2. In the top menu bar, click File > Backup.
3. Save the backup file to your Desktop. 
4. Open mSecure 7 and unlock it with your password or Touch ID.
5. In the top menu bar, click File > Restore.
6. In the Finder window, locate the .msim backup file on your Desktop and click Open. 

Once complete, your data will appear in mSecure 7. If you have sync enabled, your restored data will automatically sync to all devices signed in to the same mSecure account within a few minutes. 

Windows

To transfer your data to mSecure 7, follow these steps: 

1. Open mSecure 3.5 on your Windows device and enter your password to unlock the app. 
2. In the top menu bar, click File > Backup. 
3. Save the backup file to your Desktop. 
4. Open mSecure 7 and unlock it with your password or Windows Hello. 
5. Click the Settings (gear icon) in the bottom-left corner. 
6. Click Backups and select Restore Data.
7. In the File Explorer window, locate the .msim backup file on your Desktop and click Open. 

Once complete, your data will appear in mSecure 7. If you have sync enabled, your restored data will automatically sync to all devices signed in to the same mSecure account within a few minutes.
