Transfer Information from mSecure 4 to mSecure 6 on Your Mobile Device

This guide explains how to back up data from mSecure 4 on iOS or Android and restore it in mSecure 6.

When you install mSecure 6 on a device that had a previous version, it will automatically guide you through the migration process. However, if the migration was skipped or did not occur, you can manually create a backup from mSecure 4 and restore your information in mSecure 6.

iOS

To transfer your data to mSecure 6 on iOS, follow these steps. You must use Apple's Mail app for this method. If you need help setting up the Mail app, refer to this article

Step 1: Create a Backup in mSecure 4

  1. Open mSecure 4 on your device and unlock it using Touch Id or by entering your password.
  2. Tap the Settings icon in the bottom toolbar.
  3. Tap Email Backup to create a backup of your data.
  4. In the "To" field, enter an email address you can access from the Mail app on your iOS device.
  5. Tap Send in the top-right corner to email the backup file to yourself.

Step 2: Restore in mSecure 6

  1. Open the Mail app on your device and locate the email containing your backup file.
  2. Tap the attachment to open it.
  3. Tap mSecure in the row of app icons. Important: Since mSecure 4 is still installed, you may see two "mSecure" icons. Select the one with the dark blue background behind the key logo (mSecure 6).
  4. If you don't see the "mSecure" in the list, tap More, then select mSecure from the full list of app suggestions.
  5. mSecure 6 will open - unlock it using Face ID, Touch ID, or your password.
  6. Tap the red "Restore" button when prompted.

Once completed, your data will appear in mSecure 6. If sync is enabled, your restored data will sync across all devices signed into the same mSecure account within a few minutes.
