Introducing Custom Filters

Custom Filters in mSecure let you organize and view your records exactly the way you want. Whether you're searching for logins, secure notes, or sensitive documents, Custom Filters give you fast, focused access to the information that matters most.

Below, you'll learn what Custom Filters are and how to use them on each platform.

What Are Custom Filters?

Custom Filters let you sort and display records based on specific criteria, including:

  • Templates - Logins, Passports, Combinations, and more
  • Tags
  • Vaults

You can combine these criteria to create powerful, personalized views of your data.

What You Can Do with Custom Filters

With Custom Filters, you can:

  • Name your filters for easy identification
  • Combine templates, tags, and vaults into a single custom view
  • Quickly access filters from the hamburger menu (or the filter bar on mobile)
  • Edit filters any time as your records change

Using Custom Filters on Mac and Windows

Create a Filter

  1. Open mSecure
  2. Open the hamburger menu
  3. Click Add Filter
  4. Select the tags, templates, and/or vaults you want to include.
    - Selected items will turn blue
    - Click an item again to deselect it
  5. Click the arrow in the top-right corner to save your filter

Edit or Delete a Filter

  1. Hover over a saved filter in the menu
  2. Click the settings icon next to the record count
  3. Choose to edit or delete the filter

Note: Filters created on your computer are stored locally and don't sync to your mobile devices - filtering works differently on phones (see below).

Using Custom Filters on iOS and Android

On mobile, Custom Filters live right at the top of the main view instead of in a menu.

Create or Customize a Filter

1. In the main view, find the six circular filter icons at the top of the screen

2. Long-press one of the icons to customize it

3. Choose what to change:

  • Filter name
  • Tags, templates, and vaults to include
  • Icon from the available options

4. Tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to save your changes

Default Filters

The six filter slots come pre-configured with:

  • All Records (cannot be changed)
  • Recently Used
  • Logins
  • Email Accounts
  • Secure Notes
  • Vaults

You can replace any of the defaults except All Records.

Sort Options

Tap the two-arrow icon next to a filter name to choose how records are sorted:

  • None
  • Name
  • Template
  • Date
  • Tags
  • Recents

Resetting a Filter to Default

  1. Open Edit Filters
  2. Tap the three-dot menu
  3. Select Reset to Default

Custom Filters give you complete control over how you view and manage your data in mSecure. Once set up, they can make finding the right record faster and easier - no matter how large your vault grows.
