Offline data backup?

In light of today's outage, how can I make on off-line copy of my data, so I'm not dead in the water?

Thanks,

Hi Don,

Thank you for contacting us, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience the outage caused. One of the issues that came to the forefront today is that something is wrong with the Windows version of mSecure. If outages like this happen, mSecure should not stop functioning. Syncing would stop if the account is syncing via the mSecure Cloud, but the app should still be fully functioning aside from syncing.

All that to say, I'm going to be talking to our developer tomorrow to have him make sure whatever is causing the Windows app to stop functioning correctly in event of a server issue gets fixed in the next release. That means you shouldn't have to worry about this again. Regarding an off-line copy, I wouldn't recommend doing that because you'd be bypassing all of the security mSecure gives you. You can export your data to a CSV file, but then anyone who got access to your computer would be able to open that document any text editor to view your information.

Should you decide to export to CSV, you'll find that option mSecure's Settings under "Backups" in the left column.

Real quick, do you have a different type of device you're running mSecure on? If so, I would simply make sure that all your devices are in sync. Should something like this occur before the next Windows release, you would be able to get access to your information on a device that is not a Windows device. Do you have an iPhone or Android device by chance?
