Request to Downgrade back to 5.x Pro

I don't mind paying for upgrades per major version but not a monthly plan/yearly plan.

Example 4. x to 5. x

I logged into my computer today and noticed that 6.0 was installed on my machine automatically without my permission.  I understand that since I paid for 5.x Pro I get the stripped-down features of mSecure 6.0 for free.  What this tells me is that once 7.0 comes out my data will be a hostage to upgrade or lose my data.  No Thanks!

I don't do monthly or yearly plans because they stack up easy and I can't keep track they always end up charging me at the worst possible time and I occur a $32 bank fee.

I would rather pay by the version so I decide when to update, AKA: (When I get paid and think your software is worth it.)  With this new pricing plan, you are taking this out of my hands.  So I am forced to take it back by finding another software to use.

I never upgrade to the cutting edge until all the bugs are worked out...  For Example the 6.0

- The Record Editor Fields do not align up correctly on larger screens.

- The Light and Dark Options are Crap compared to 4.x and 5.x versions...

- Forced Premium Trial - No Way to Cancel out of it.. Adds extra crap in the way that I don't need.

- Several of my Records Crash the Software on PC but works fine on my Apple Phone.

I loved your software with my experience 4.x and 5.x and have suggested it to many of my students in the Army where I teach 25B (Information Technology Specialist) MOS.  No Referral because of profiting rules.... but I was glad to recommend it. 400/700 Students a year for the past 4 years. (Your software was a great example of easy it could be to keep up with tons of passwords, without having to recall any of them...)  Many people use one password for everything and a huge security risk.

With the new pricing plan, I will not be referring anyone else and I will not be using your software past the trial version.  I also will be sending past students to ditch the software once I find a suitable solution.  Even if I have to learn C++ and QT (www.qt.io) Open Source and build it myself.

I am so pissed off I could scream!!!

You could have at least given me the opportunity to upgrade when I wanted to instead of being thrust into bug-ridden software and forced to swim.

@Shane I'm not sure what has happened if you have automatic updates turned off on your iPad, but I can tell you we as 3rd party developers cannot force mSecure or mSecure upgrades to be downloaded onto your devices. I don't know if you are concerned about that as a few others have been, but  the actual deployment policies are all in the hands of Apple, Microsoft and Google.

The reason we haven't answered your support ticket is not because we don't want to or it doesn't align with our business policies. I actually don't know what that means except that you think we just decide to not help certain people because we don't like what they're dealing with. If that's the case, it would go against us building a business if we treated our customers that way, so we don't do that. We answer emails in the order they come in, and we are seriously backed up right now as I'm sure you understand.

With regards to downgrading, that is not possible, but we're still having problems understanding why you would want to do that. You don't have to pay for the upgrade, and you won't lose any features if you have a V5 license like I think you do. Syncing works exactly the same as it did in V5. There were no changes in syncing, so if you are experiencing some type of problems after mSecure has been updated to V6 on all your devices, we just need to figure out what's happening and it should be an easy fix.

Are you saying that all your devices have updated to mSecure 6 and the syncing is not working correctly?

@Msta I'm going to let our developer know about the reversed buttons and the label issues. I believe I have it understood pretty clearly. After the next few releases, please check the labels if you are able and let us know if everything looks right. We actually have a translation service that specializes in translating software information, so I'm not sure why this is off like it is.

For the QR code, the majority of the time, you do not need to authenticate after signing in. The reason for this is the different platforms store your encrypted account key (it's encrypted with your mSecure password) either locally on your device, in the case of Windows, or in your Android backup in Google Play, on Android. mSecure is able to retrieve that file, and then decrypt after you entered your password, and that's how you are authenticated.

In regards to the scrolling in the Settings, if you still cannot scroll down past the first page, have you tried both restarting your Android device, and if that doesn't fix it, reinstalling mSecure? I have never seen anything like this happen, so I'm hopeful it's a glitch that will be solved easily. If it doesn't, then I'll have to talk to our developer to see if he can reproduce the issue. The thing is, we have a lot of German users, they are the 2nd largest group behind American users, and the one you mention in the review is the only other time I have heard of this.

Did you try restarting your phone? If that didn't fix the scrolling, did you try reinstalling mSecure?

Hi Mike,

i agree with the previous posters: the auto update (without any question) is unaccaptable.

Losing the groups is a giant suck!!! I had nearly 600 items organized into groups, now i have a big mess and barly can find anything.

It's more than unaccaptable! How could i find and tag the items manually? Do you think i have days to do it?

Please put the group feature back into the application.

Thx: Norbert

The reason i want to downgrade are for the following reasons:

[a] My Desktop Mac is running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5 (I CANNOT UPGRADE to v6 for hardware reasons). This has BROKEN WIFI SYNCING between my iOS devices

[b] I didn't upgrade to v6 (this happened automatically across my iOS devices even though AUTOMATIC UPDATE was NOT ENABLED - I've never seen this happen before

[c] I want my Mac OS desktop version of mSecure v5 to STOP NAGGING ME TO UPGRADE, it gets in the way of using the software and serves as a constant reminder of why I'm angry.

I appreciate that v6 is a grandfathered plan, but that's NOT the issue for me. I can put up with tags instead of folders etc, I just want my workflow to operate, which is Desktop Syncing.

I really think something has gone wrong here, as I've never seen iOS devices auto update before (when that feature is NOT enabled). You should contact Apple, because this is the number complaint thats occurring in this chat thread and if APPLE are responsible for autoupdating without user permission, then they are doing both mSeven and it's customers a major disservice

Hoping we can get somewhere with these issues - Thanks - Shane

Sorry if this is a duplicate post

Possibly what took some users by surprise is that on Windows, mSecure updates via the app store, and not through Windows update.  Many of us stay away from the store, and apps in general, because mobile-like apps on a large Windows desktop look a bit ridiculous and make little sense.  (I include mSecure in that, however we may have made an exception for mSecure, in the interest of having a product that runs on our phones and desktop.)  Consequently we're used to programs that update in an orderly manner via the manufacturer's individual update mechanism at evident junctures, and whole-version updates that are conspicuously opt-in, if not requiring explicit downloads etc.  We're not dealing with the store on a frequent basis, and are not constantly aware that the update mechanism is separate from Windows Update, and evidently defaults to "yes please".

I have restarted the phone several times and reinstalled the app. No improvement. It is strange that this error has not yet occurred with you. My sister and my mother also use msecure and have the same error.

I have the same issue stated above. You say that upgrade to 6 we keep our purshased license but why do i have a countdown of 30 days (28 now) for using the premium service, when i already had purshased the software. I dont want to pay a monthly fee

I don't think this is a messaging issue. I have a feeling mSecure is going to hold everyone hostage until they pay their annual or monthly fees. Based on the midnight dealings of this company without clear communication (by accident?) we're left with little to no trust in this company. The Premium features they are now going to bill us for are the same we bought and paid for years ago. I took a chance with this company who boasted they're not a subscription service 7 years ago.

Your selling point was "all the features of a subscription service without the subscription". Now you're strong-arming the people who took you up on this offer to make an extra buck? This isn't a messaging issue this is a greed issue. I feel sorry for all of those who just purchased the mSecure 5 pro license and are now going to have to shell over more money for the product they were told they bought and paid for.

That's like buying a new car paid in full. Then the next month getting billed for a lease on the car you own. Even Microsoft doesn't do that. (They got sued and lost badly).

Perhaps we should look into a class action law suit

DAVID - I TOTALLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID AS THEY ALSO FORCED ME TO UPGRADE MY 5 PRO TO THIS ONE 6 I DIDN'T ASK FOR. I'M ALSO VERY ANGRY ABOUT IT. I HAVE ALSO RECOMMENDED IT TO MANY OF MY FOLLOWERS AND FRIENDS, WHO TRUST WHAT I RECOMMEND. I BOUGHT THE PRO VERSION. FORCE ME TO PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION WHEN I DIDN'T PLAN FOR IT IN MY BUDGET? UPDATES MUST BE PAID FOR BUT AT OUR CHOICE.

I have tickets outstanding about this but in my case I fell for the tactic of not wanting the 30 days to elapse before 'the trial ' expired.  I had v5 (paid) but to be honest I didn't remember what the version was called so I pressed the Buy button.  I am asking for them to either pay me a refund or stop any future subscriptions as I really only want the version that they have renames Essentials. I have an entry in my diary for next year to check what the position is and if I don't hear anything I will delete the app and look elsewhere as this is the only sure way of not being charged again.  The whole saga is very sad to say the least.

I don't mind the forced upgrade if features stay the same (which seems to be the case), however I hate seeing this comically large "you are using a glorified demo" banner with a 30 day timer. I buy premium versions of software to get rid of this shit and I have spent the 30ish euros on mSecure because it didn't have this whole subscription shit.

Give me the option to remove this reminder that I am a 2nd class "essentials" citizen.

@Everyone Just a quick note on a couple of things:

1) If you want a refund for a purchase, by all means, let me know and I'll either process a refund for you, or I'll help in any way I can to point you where you need to go to get the refund from one of the app stores. mSeven Software has always had one of the most generous refund policies of any software company I'm aware of. We never want anyone to pay for something they don't want, and we don't want anyone to be unhappy with a purchase they have made.

2) I cannot be more clear when I say we cannot force an update on to anyone's device. Even if at some point in time we asked users if we could push an update to their device in the future without them knowing, Apple, Google and Microsoft don't allow it. Some of you are saying it is possible and we forced you to download mSecure 6, but that is not true. The only way we know of that an up will be downloaded if you don't go to the app store first to request it is if you have automatic downloads turned on for your device. I know some of you are saying you don't have automatic updates turned on. While I can't speak to what's happening on any one's device specifically because I don't have it in front of me, I can tell you we could not have forced the v6 update onto anyone's device. mSecure 6 is a direct update to mSecure 5, so after the update was submitted to Apple, Google and Microsoft, they approved it, and then deployed it according to their guidelines. Once the app is submitted to the app stores for approval, we have no more control of how the apps are distributed.

One quick note for the Android platform. We have heard it may be possible to perform some sort of forced updates in Google Play, but if it's possible, we have not researched this feature, and we would not implement something like this for an app update since we don't want to force anyone to do something they don't want to do. To clarify, if anyone is aware of a way to actually go against the user's will and force them to download an app or update, we have not researched that feature, and if it's available, we did not use it for mSecure 6 and have no plans of using it in the future.
