App icon changed

Today the icon on my mSecure changed from the blue dot with a key in it to a green alien looking thing. Was there an update to mSecure5?
The Android app has been updated - the icon does appear to be broken.
So is it safe to open my application or not?

Our latest update is missing the app icon. We will have another update today to fix this. There's nothing wrong with the app itself now. Feel free to use it.

Same here - default Android icon.  I panicked at first, but I tested a bunch of stuff and all seemed fine.

There's an update that fixes the icon issue out now.

My entire mSecure icon disappeared from my iPhone.  (1) Is my data still there somewhere? and (2) How can I get to it without the icon?

Hi Ritamcliton,

Thank you for contacting us and I'm sorry about the issue you are experiencing.  Can you let me know what version of mSecure you were using? I'm not sure what happened here. The app could have been accidentally removed or you could have switched Apple IDs and caused the app to be removed.

You can learn how to download our previous versions here: https://support.msecure.com/support/solutions/articles/36000064249-how-to-download-previous-versions

mSecure 4 and below has no account system. Since the older version(s) of mSecure isn't a cloud-based app, there is no way to "sign in" to an account where your information is stored online. Because of this, each older version of the mSecure's login password is device specific and your information is not automatically restored when an older version of mSecure is installed or reinstalled on a mobile device.

Are you running an older version of mSecure on any other devices, and is your data fully intact on at least one of them? If not, have you made any mSecure backups through either the Email Backup feature found in the preferences or through using our free backup software called mBackup? Perhaps you set up iCloud or Dropbox syncing in the older versions of mSecure in the past?

We have an automated reminder in the older iOS app for making backups, so it is possible that you made an email backup some time in the past. Please search in your email accounts to see if you can find an email with "mSecure", "mism" or "mscx" in them. If you find an email backup you can use this guide to restore from an email backup file: https://support.msecure.com/knowledge-base/ios-email-backup or in mSecure 5: https://support.msecure.com/support/solutions/articles/36000065649-backup-and-restore-general

We have mSecure 4.  I don't believe it was deleted accidentally.  I do have a backup on another device but how can I get that data back on my phone, including images?

Unfortunately, I don't know how the app would have been removed from your device. If you have mSecure 4 on another device, please use this link to learn how to create a backup of your information and restore from that backup in mSecure 4 on your iPhone: https://support.msecure.com/support/solutions/articles/36000022240-email-backup-and-restore-v4

You'll have to download mSecure 4 from your purchased list because it is no longer available for sale: https://support.msecure.com/support/solutions/articles/36000064249-how-to-download-previous-versions

Note: an email backup will save all the custom icons and photo attachments. However, you'll have to install mSecure 4 on your device first, set up a new login password, and restore the add-on purchase again in the app. You can do that by creating a record and trying to attach a photo. That will present you with the option to either restore the feature or purchase it. If you are using the Apple ID that you originally used to purchase the add-on, tapping the restore option will re-enable to feature.
