mSecure-Unterstützung

On Android 17 cannot re-enable biometric unlock

mSecure 7 (version 7.0.1.2048)

A hairline crack in my screen protector prevented me from using fingerprints to log in. When i removed the screen protector I had to redo my fingerprints, then update any apps that use biometrics.

However, mSecure will not allow me to update Biometric Security.
When I choose Strong Protection, tap OK, and confirm my password, I get error message "updateBiometric error".

Hi Citius,

Thank you for contacting us, and I'm sorry for the issue you are experiencing. I'm not sure what's happening because there aren't any known issues that match the behavior you're describing here. Let me get some more information from you and I'll do my best to troubleshoot the problem.

Can you send me a screenshot of exactly what you are seeing on your Android device since this is not occurring on my Android device. Do you also have Facial Recognition enabled on your Android device? Are you able to unlock your phone using your fingerprint biometrics? Please confirm this for me and I will assist further.

I'm facing similar issue. I've updated my fingerprints a week ago. I can only enable Standard Protection for Biometrics. If I select Strong Protection, this one gives the update biometric error. I'm on an S22 Ultra (Official ROM, Knox OK), with Essentials (v5 Pro License)

Hi Santiago,

I have responded to your ticket. We will continue this conversation through the ticket system.

I have the same problem with a Samsung S26 FE after adding a new fingerprint. If I select Strong Protection, the error "update biometric error" is displayed, I can only enable Standard Protection for Biometrics.

I was curious to see if I could duplicate this issue. The clue was that everyone who encountered it had updated or added new fingerprints recently. So I did the same by adding a fingerprint. Subsequently, mSecure identified that the Biometric security was updated and requested for the password. And sure enough, now I could not enable Strong Protection. It seems to have something to do with the latest update 7.0.1.2048 on September 22 which Play Store mentions adding new biometric settings to support all levels of Android Biometric security. I managed to get back Strong Protection only by clearing data and logging back in to my account.

Hi John,

Thank you for contacting us I apologize for the delay in response. This is a known issue we are dealing with and If you could email in to "support@msevensoftware.com", I will be able to give you a new build to install on your Android device to see if this resolves the issue on your Samsung.

Hi JSeow,

The issue you are bringing up is actually not a bug, that is how it is intended to work since mSecure detected a change with your biometric security. If you were using "Standard Protection", this would've not happened, but since you were using "Strong Protection", the app forces you to enter your account password.

Hi Mark,

I do understand that mSecure forces one to enter the account password after detecting a change in biometric security. But the issue is that one can no longer change the Biometric setting back to Strong Protection even after keying in the correct password. Every time I try to do that it will fail with an "update biometric error". How is that working as intended?

Or do you mean to say that before making any changes to biometrics, one should change the setting to Standard, make the change to biometrics, then and only then will one be able to change the setting back to Strong? Or some such permutation? There is not much explanation on what the difference between Strong Protection and Standard Protection is supposed to achieve. I would think that one should always set it to Strong for the best outcome.
