Browser plugins or extensions

I believe competitive Password Managers have a Chrome extension so that usernames and passwords are entered automatically (or at least prompted) when going to a site that mSecure contains the credentials for.


It would be great if mSecure had that as well. 

It would be even greater if that worked with mobile Chrome on iOS.


I see the current iOS extension but it only works with Safari, and it requires that I remember that my password is stored there (no auto-prompt), then click Share, then click the mSecure option. That's a lot to remember and not exactly intuitive (I'm not sharing). So the current functionality could be improved upon to be useful.

I am a new user and overall like the product.  Especially that it is not a subscription based model.  However, I am quite surprised that there are not browser extensions 

for Chrome and Brave.  Are you still working toward finishing these?  If so, what is the ETA?  It honestly makes me want to look for another password management software.

Thank you for contacting us! The good news is, the browser extensions are implemented in mSecure 6, so they will be available when it's released. However, they will only be available for the Mac platform at the first release of v6, and they will be supported in the Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers (Edge support comes for free since it is simply a reskinned version of Chrome).  For Safari, we have implemented the MacOS Safari AutoFill feature for first release.


At the time of release, we will have not tested support for the Chrome extension in the Brave web browser, but it should be fully compatible if what Brave claims about running Chrome-based extensions is true. You should be able to simply install the mSecure Chrome extension, and everything should just work. As development continues in the future, I'm sure we'll be adding more support for other browsers, but for now, we're only concentrating on a select few.


As for an ETA, we are very, very close to the first beta release for v6, so the public release won't be far behind. If you would like to sign up for beta testing, please email us at support@msevensoftware.com, and we'll get you added to the list.

We don't have a concrete release date for v6 yet, but the first beta release should be ready in the next week or two. Depending on how long of a beta testing phase we need, the public release could be ready about a couple months after its start.


Regarding pricing, I can't comment on the full details, but I can tell you that licensed mSecure 5 users will not have to pay an upgrade fee to continue using all of the features in mSecure 5. On top of that, there will be upgrades that come for free to licensed mSecure 5 users, but there will also be some premium features that will require a purchase to use.


In short, licensed mSecure 5 users will get an upgrade at no cost, but not all features will be available without an extra purchase. We plan to send out email communication to our customers as we get closer to the mSecure 6 release, and it will outline in detail what to expect for the new version.

mSecure is fantastic product, being using it for years and it makes for great value compared to others! 


But it's lack of support for a  Browser plug-in extension to compete with competitiion and to support other OSs such Linux is a BIG LOSS!


Can we get an update on this feature please and potential release date?

Hi Chris,

The mSecure 6 beta was just released, and for the Mac version, there is now a browser extension. I'm not sure which OS you are running, but if it's Windows, there won't be a browser extension right from the start of the v6 release. It will be added to the app in a future release, however. We are planning to release to the public as soon as possible after we get the needed feedback from our beta testers.

Hi Jon,

As long as you have a mSecure 5 Pro license, you'll have access to those features in mSecure 6 at no extra cost. However, there are new features like cross-account sharing that will be paid upgrades.

Is there any sight on when the chrome extension for Windows will work for v6? I've got my dad on a family license, the extension would really help, the app is difficult for him because there's no option for dutch language.

@Frans Getting the browser extensions ported over to Windows is always high on our priorities, but that project is taking longer than we had hoped. At this time, unfortunately, I don't have any timeframe as to when it will be supported, but I can tell you it is in process. The problem is, we may have to wait until we port mSecure's architecture out of the UWP (Universal Windows Platform) before it will be able to be implemented. We're working on making it possible with the current architecture, but we're just not sure if it's going to be feasible as of yet. 


I switched to LastPass due to the delay of this standard feature. Frankly, I still like mSecure much more than Dashlane, 1Password and LastPass (tried them all) but will continue not recommending it until this feature is supported for all major platforms/browsers. I have 6 family members that have approached me for recommendations on a password manager and was disappointed that I could only mention but not recommend mSecure. I was a die hard advocate for a onetime payment and that's why I originally switched to mSecure. I would pay a subscription in a heart beat with this feature after having experienced other PW managers. Please just make this happen as soon as possible. You have a fantastic platform and feature set. Only missing this one (very important) standard feature which in the end I believe will make or break mSecures future.

Thanks for the feature request. We do have plans for browser plugins for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge in the future. Also, you can already use our mSecure Extension feature to sign in to your logins on Chrome on iOS and into your account on select apps.
